Bucktail tennis now 8-0, soars past NP-Liberty 5-0
By Bees O'Brien
Liberty, PA- Bucktail locked in another .500 or better season on Thursday afternoon by sweeping NP-Liberty 5-0. Road trip victory now has the Lady Bucks sitting at 8-0. The Lady Mounties fell to 2-5 on the season.
Again it was the overpowering play of singles competitors Kayla Probert, Alexis Lowery and Bella English. Probert and Lowery were pushed in their first set.
Probert narrowly edged NP-Liberty’s Marissa Griese 7-5, before finishing her off with a 6-1 final set. Lowery received stiff competition from the Lady Mounties’ Martha Bradford in a 7-5 opening set win. Lowery would cool off the Bradford rally with a 6-1 final set to lock up the match.
Abby Miller and Kori Prebble picked up a doubles victory, as did the team of Gigi Balchun and Eva Sockman.
Bucktail will begin a busy week next week that starts with a Monday trip to Towanda. On Wednesday the Lady Bucks will meet Montgomery in Farwell for a MPC showdown. Thursday they will have a home rematch against NP-Liberty, followed by a Mid Penn contest with St. John Neumann in Farwell on Friday.
