Lock Haven announces 2022 Homecoming festivities

LOCK HAVEN, PA – The Lock Haven campus of Commonwealth University will hold its 2022 Homecoming events from Thursday, Sept. 15, through Sunday, Sept. 18. Events will include the annual Lawn Party and Golf Cart Parade, the 28th annual Alumni Classic Golf Tournament hosted by the Lock Haven University Alumni Association, the 50th class reunion of the Class of 1972, and the Bald Eagle football team battling Clarion University.

The festivities begin Thursday, Sept. 15, at 5 p.m. with a Lawn Party at the Poorman Commons, followed by The Haven’s annual Golf Cart Parade at 6 p.m. that runs down North Fairview Street to Ivy Lane.

The Lawn Party, scheduled from 5-7 p.m., will offer free food, lawn games, music, and other activities. The theme for this year’s Golf Cart Parade is “Adventure Awaits.”

Friday’s activities begin at Belles Springs Golf Course at 10 a.m. with the shotgun start of the 28th annual Alumni Golf Classic. Registration opens at 8:30 a.m.

At 11 a.m., the LHU Alumni Association will also host a “Kraft & Karry” craft-making event in the clubhouse at Belles Springs Golf Course.

The events transition back to campus at 3 p.m. when the Bald Eagle field hockey team takes on LaSalle at Charlotte Smith Field. The Bald Eagle volleyball team then takes on Bloomsburg at 7 p.m. in Thomas Fieldhouse.
At 5:30 p.m. on Friday, the LHU Alumni Association will host two separate but concurrent events.

The 50th Class Reunion Mix & Mingle for the class of 1972 will take place on the outdoor patio of the Durrwachter Alumni Conference (DACC), and inside the DACC, a mix and mingle for all LHU and Lock Haven State College alumni will occur. Both events begin at 5:30 p.m. and conclude at 8:30 p.m.

Saturday’s events begin at 8 a.m. with tailgating in the Hubert Jack Stadium parking lot. Tailgating passes are available at www.golhu.com.

A full slate of on-campus events throughout the day on Saturday are open to the public.

From 9-11 a.m., free pastries and coffee will be available in the DACC, courtesy of the LHU Alumni Association. Members of the Alumni Association and LHU Foundation boards of directors will be on-site to greet alumni.
At 11 a.m., the Class of 1972 will celebrate its 50th reunion under the tent at Hubert Jack Stadium.

Also, at 11 a.m., Lock Haven softball will host its annual Homecoming alumnae game at Lawrence Field and the lacrosse team will host its annual alumnae game at 11 a.m. on Charlotte Smith Field.

At 2 p.m. Bald Eagle football will kick off against Clarion University at Hubert Jack Stadium. Tickets can be bought at the gate. Admission to the game is $10. All other Homecoming athletic events are free.

The Saturday slate of events concludes in the DACC at 6 p.m. with the induction of the 2020, 2021, and 2022 Lock Haven Athletics Hall of Fame classes. A social will take place from 6-7 p.m. and the induction ceremony begins at 7 p.m.

On Saturday, the university will also provide free bus service to help visitors traverse their way around campus. The bus will run a continuous loop from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., making stops at Thomas Field House, the DACC, Zimmerli parking lot, and the Jack Stadium parking lot.

On Sunday, Homecoming 2022 festivities wrap up when the Bald Eagle field hockey team hosts Rider at noon at Charlotte Smith Field.

The University Store will be open Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., and closed on Sunday.
