Lady Wildcat soccer drops opener to Penns Valley

SPRING MILLS, PA – The Central Mountain Lady Wildcat soccer team opened up on the road at host Penns Valley Monday evening and the Lady Rams came out on top, 3-0.

The game started slow, with each team trying to get organized. The Lady Rams scored first as they were awarded a penalty kick and converted it to put them ahead. The second goal came in the first half as the Lady Wildcats had difficulty getting into the game.

The second half saw the Lady Wildcats put a bit more pressure on the host, a couple of opportunities but nothing fell for the visiting team. A few missed chances and some very stingy defending, the Lady Wildcat soccer team couldn’t find a way to get themselves on the board. The third goal came in the last ten minutes of the game.

Following the game, head coach Ryan Veltri said the Lady Wildcats are still searching for their identity, as they are a young squad gaining valuable experience and getting better daily. They will use this as a measuring stick as they look back at the end of the season.

The JV team got on the board first, Kendall Veltri put away her first high school goal to put the Lady Wildcats ahead. The Lady Rams bounced back and put in four goals before lightening ended the game with ten minutes left to play.

The Lady Wildcats are on the road again Tuesday as they travel to Huntingdon. They will host their first home game on Thursday, Sept. 1 at Malinak Stadium when they welcome back Penns Valley.
