New Lockport “soft” boat launch area set for dedication on Friday
LOCKPORT, PA – The Friday start of the 51st Labor Day Regatta will see a special ceremony at the Lockport Boat Launch in Woodward Township.
Officials have scheduled a Friday 1 p.m. dedication for a recently completed enhancement along the Susquehanna River’s north shore, just downriver from the existing boat launch which will be in use for the Regatta.
The Clinton County Economic Partnership Visitors Bureau worked with a local committee, including Woodward Township and others, to facilitate the project. It involved the stabilization/improvement of about 175 feet of riverbank to allow “soft” access for small boats. The idea came from the Delaware Valley Outboard Motorboat Association, which, along with the Lock Haven Area Jaycees, oversees the powerboat races during the Labor Day Regatta.
