Miller departs KCSD board of education; replacement sought
BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP, PA – Thursday evening saw a brief Keystone Central School Board meeting marked by one departure: Fellow board members accepted the resignation of Boise “Bo” Miller. They did so with words of praise for Miller who was in his second term representing Region VIII, Castanea and Bald Eagle townships and Flemington borough. His departure takes effect on Friday.
Miller called his time on the board “a fun run” but professionally he was “tied up a lot more than I used to be” as he is Executive Director of Infrastructure and Datacenter Services for the recently formed Commonwealth University of Pennsylvania. Previously serving the Lock Haven campus, his position now requires periodic travel to the Mansfield and Bloomsburg campuses. He said those demands were impacting his ability “trying to be the board member I want to be.”
He said it was a pleasure to work with the school board and district
The district has 30 days to select a replacement with indications that applications will be accepted and interviews held with a new board member selected in early September.
Superintendent Jacquelyn Martin and multiple board members lauded Miller for his service to the district; the superintendent called him “a very positive supporter of higher education.”
Miller is in his second term as a board member and had previously served as board president. The Castanea Township resident would have been up for reelection in 2023.
He first won election in 2015 and earned a second term in 2019.
The board voting session lasted just over 30 minutes. District human resources director Mark Condo announced a “bit of a change” for parents or guardians picking up students at district schools: the need for a valid photo identification. He said details will be shared to the district family shortly.
The new school year will be starting later this month and superintendent Martin offered an initial welcome to incoming kindergarteners, “the Class of 2035.”
