Keystone Juniors with comeback win at states
DUBOIS, PA – The Keystone Junior All-Stars for the second day in a row took a must-win game at the Pennsylvania state tournament in DuBois on Thursday. Down 3-1 heading into the fifth inning, Keystone plated three runs, enough to finish with a 4-3 win over Indiana and earn another game in the losers’ bracket on Friday.
Three Keystone pitchers held Indiana to four hits and three unearned runs. Josh Ludlow went the first 2.2 innings giving up four hits and the three unearned runs, Nolan Cross, 2.1 innings of hitless, scoreless ball to earn the win and Watt Probst with two innings of hitless, scoreless ball to earn the save.
Keystone had six hits, led by Blake Walker with two singles and an RBI. Jared Bischof had a clutch 2-run single in the fifth inning; Ludlow with an RBI single and Probst and Cole Cooper also had singles.
Now 2-1 after losing their opener at the double-elimination tournament, Keystone will try to continue its run through the losers’ bracket with a 1 p.m. Friday game against the winner of a Thursday elimination game between DuBois and Greater Wyoming.
