LOCK HAVEN, PA. – Looking to repeat its success from the 2021 season, the Lock Haven University’s men’s soccer team has sent a large contingent of student-athletes to various competitive summer-leagues to develop their skills over the summer break.
Entering his sixth season at the helm, head coach Pat Long and the Bald Eagles racked up the program’s most wins since 2007 with 13 in 2021. The Haven will look to return to the top once again in 2022, and ahead of their return to campus in August, a number of Bald Eagles have been honing their talents across strong team and leagues.
A quartet of current Bald Eagles competed for the newly minted Williamsport City Lions and helped the side grab the UPSL – Division 1 regular season title in the Lions inaugural season. Kolachi Pombor (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport), Tom Pombor (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport), Gabe Leach (Wellsboro, Pa./Wellsboro (Bethany)) and Jamison Bohner (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove) were also joined by recent alum Beckham Sibiski (’22) as The Haven presence helped to secure the league title.
Notably, LHU continued its relationship with Reading United of the USL 2 as forward Sam Hershey (Lancaster, Pa./McCaskey) makes his mark with the club over the summer. In his first appearance for the club, Hershey scored the game-winning goal against Real Central New Jersey.
The Bald Eagles sent a trio to Keystone FC as Duc Do (New Oxford, Pa./New Oxford), William Kamga (New Cumberland, Pa./Cedar Cliff (Alvernia)) and Deegan MacLeod (New Cumberland, Pa./Cedar Cliff) all joined the Central Pennsylvania side for the summer.
Another duo of student-athletes competed in the NPSL Keystone Conference as Aitor Ruiz de Eguilaz (Euskadi, Spain/Koldo Mitxelena (Robert Morris)) joined the Electric City Shock and Connor Swope (Dillsburg, Pa./Northern York) sided with Hershey FC. Ruiz de Eguilaz and the Shock headed to the postseason as the No. 2 seed before falling short in the conference semifinals against West Chester United SC.
The remaining student-athletes are spread across various leagues as individuals: Ryan Foskey (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown) – Westmont United, Colton Swanson (Bradford, Pa./Bradford) – AC Elite and Eion Roman (Pennsauken, N.J./Pennsauken) – Medford Strikers.
