Wings over Lock Haven: The Fly-In is back!
LOCK HAVEN, PA – The weather has been a bit “iffy” at times but otherwise the 36th annual Sentimental Journey to Lock Haven is off and winging at the William T. Piper Memorial Airport.
While the fly-in program, which runs through Saturday, is primarily for those who bring their airplanes to Lock Haven each June, many of the activities can be shared with community members with ties to the Piper Aircraft Corporation which was a fixture at the airport and in the town for half a century.
The event always attracts local residents to the fly-in grounds on the southside of the airport and many who simply drive down E. Water Street, park their cars and ascend the earthen levee to view the planes coming and going.
Fly-In officials have posted an official schedule for the remainder of this year’s event:
2022 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULE *Note: All forums are held in the Piper Museum 1st floor conference room, unless noted otherwise. Admittance fee to museum is not included or required. Transportation is provided. Museum is open 9am-6pm through Fri, & 10am-4pm Sat. for an admittance fee. *Golf cart shuttle to the north side, (FBO) is located at the tower. *Poker Run and Lycoming Engines tour are on Thursday this year. *Auction of aviation items is Fri at 11:30, sign-ups at 11:00. DON’T MISS IT! Some nice items are available. * The newly purchased & restored C 54D “Spirit of Freedom” is on static at the Museum, and is even better than before! Definitely take a tour & remember those who served.

Sign up no later than 9:30. Briefing & first card draw at 9:45 at Camp FUBAR. Afternoon & Evening 12:00- Greg Koontz Thrilling Air Antics. 1:00- Sign-ups & Pilot Briefing for Bomb Drop, at tower. Must sign up at this time. 1:00- Forum: TBD 2:00- Kids Crafts, held at the pavilion. 2:00- Forum: Clyde Smith, Jr., “Restoration of Fabric Pipers” 3:00- Bomb Drop Contest, pilot briefing at 1:00 at tower. 4:30- Golf Ball Drop.
