Road tarring causes damage to vehicles in western Clinton County
RENOVO, PA – An unspecified number of motorists had their vehicles damaged by a tarring and chipping project on Routes 120 and 144 near Renovo on Thursday.
A Record request to PennDOT’s Clearfield District office did not get an immediate response on Friday. Motorists said the Thursday rain added to the problem which saw tar attached to car tires and tar splattered on vehicle sides.
One driver said the problem included a stretch on Route 120 from Renovo to Westport.
State Rep. Stephanie Borowicz (R-76) posted word Friday that she had been in touch with PennDOT and said the state agency was sending equipment to sweep the roads and clear off loose stones on Friday. She also posted word on how those with damages can file a claim with the state.
The affected roads are seeing heavy traffic this weekend as the Smoked Country Jam runs Friday and Saturday at Quiet Oaks Campground near Cross Fork.
