Cross and Pick to represent Bucktail at Varischetti Football All-Star Game

BROCKWAY, PA- Dylan Cross and Zach Pick have been chosen amongst the District 9 League’s very best and will be Bucktail’s representatives at the 7th Annual Frank Varischetti All-Star game on Friday, July 1 at 7 p.m. at Brockway’s Frank Varischetti Field.

The two Bucks will play on the North squad along with players from Bradford, Brockway, Cameron County, Elk County Catholic, Kane, Otto-Eldred, Port Allegany, Ridgeway, St. Mary’s, and Smethport.

Cross and Pick will join other D9 standouts that they squared off with in the 2021 season including Otto-Eldred quarterback Gavin Jimerson and the exciting quarterback and wide out tandem of Noah Lent and Alex Ognen of Smethport. Cameron County’s Dylan Rieder and Brockway’s Jalen Kosko among others.

St. Mary’s head coach Chris Dworek will coach the North.

The South squad is made up of teams that include 2021 1A State Finalist Redbank Valley, Brookville, Central Clarion, DuBois, Karns City, Keystone, Moniteau, Punxsutawney and Union/AC Valley.

Union AC Valley’s Brad Dittman will coach the South.

The South squad will feature a slew of Redbank Valley Bulldogs. Joe Mansfield, Brenden Shreckengost, explosive receivers Chris Marshall and Marquese Gardlock and D9 Offensive Player of the Year quarterback Bryson Bain.

Cross threw for 727 yards and 5 touchdowns. He was also the Bucks leading rusher with 428 yards and a score, but it was Cross’ defense that earned him a spot in the Varischetti All-Star game. He led Bucktail with 116 tackles and two interceptions.

Pick also caught the eyes of the D9 League’s defensive scouts. He finished second on the team with 100 stops. He also returned a pair of kickoffs for touchdowns during the 2021 season. Offensively Pick was solid too. He gained 548 all-purpose, second on the team.

General Admission tickets can be bought at the gate at a price of $5 for adults and $2 for students.
