Light turnout reported in primary election

LOCK HAVEN, PA – As predicted, the turnout has been light across Clinton County through early Tuesday afternoon for the Pennsylvania primary election.

County voter registrar Maria Boileau reported Monday 11,958 Republicans are eligible to vote along with 7,058 Democrats. Total registration for the county is 21,835, but as Pennsylvania is a “closed” primary state, only registered Republicans and Democrats may vote in the primary.

Polls will be open on Tuesday until 8 p.m.

Primary races for US Senate and Pennsylvania Governor and Lieutenant Governor highlight the statewide ballot. County voters will see one local contested race, that for the Democratic nomination for the 76th district state House seat. Candidates are Elijah Probst of Lock Haven and Denise Maris of Renovo. The winner will face off in November against incumbent Rep. Stephanie Borowicz of McElhattan who is unopposed on the GOP ballot as she seeks a third term in Harrisburg.
