Avis area woman arrested on drug, firearms charges
AVIS, PA – Pine Creek Township police have arrested an Avis area woman and charged her with multiple offenses in connection with two incidents, one on New Year’s Eve, the other on May 6. Mary Tina Marie Yost was taken before District Judge John Maggs and bail set at $65,000 for each of the two case charges lodged against her.
Township police released a detailed statement leading to her arrest:
On May 6, 2022, the Lycoming County Narcotics Enforcement Unit (NEU) was conducting surveillance on a residence, 820 East Central Ave. Jersey Shore, PA , Pine Creek Township, Clinton County for an un-related investigation. The NEU observed a known drug dealer exit the residence of 820 East Central Ave. and get into a Champagne colored Jeep Commander. The Jeep Commander circled the block and stopped, returned to the front of 820 East Central Ave. where the known male exited the vehicle and returned to the residence. The NEU then followed the Jeep Commander to a nearby Car Wash where they conducted a field contact on two occupants. The occupants explained that they just left Avis, PA after meeting with a black male who was known to them and provided the street name the occupants knew the male as. This was the same as the person the officers witnessed walk out of the residence and get into the Jeep, circle the block and exit the Jeep and go back inside the residence. Both occupants admitted to picking up the known male and going for a short ride as they exchanged $20 for a small baggie of crystal methamphetamine.
This information was passed on to the Pine Creek Township Police Department. Officers were familiar with the 820 East Central Avenue address as they had recently made a controlled purchase of Cocaine using a confidential informant from Mary Yost at that residence. Mary Yost is known to be the resident and owner of 820 East Central Avenue. A search warrant for the residence was obtained and executed. As a result of the search warrant Mary Yost was arrested and the following items were located: 178 grams of bath salts, 34 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 2 grams of cocaine, 8 packed baggies of heroin stamped “Zombieland”, 4 Subutex tablets, 3 MDMA pills, 8 pills that were described as pressed fentanyl tablets, several hundred hypodermic needles and a Mossberg 12 Ga shotgun with an obliterated serial number and the barrel cut and filed to 14 1/2 inches. There were also numerous pieces of packaging material, scales and drug paraphernalia all consistent with the selling of controlled substances. The street value of the controlled substances that were recovered is approximately $15,000.
This was a combined effort between the Lycoming County Narcotics Enforcement Unit, Pine Creek Township Police Department, Tiadaghton Valley Regional Police Department, Clinton County Sheriff’s Department, U.S. Marshalls Task Force, Pennsylvania State Police and the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General Bureau of Narcotics Division. Mary Yost was charged with: Possession of a Firearm with a altered manufacturers number (Title 18, section 6110.2A Felony 2), Possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance (Title 35, section 780-113(a)(30) Felony), Possession of a controlled substance (Title 35, section 780-113(a)(16) Misdemeanor) and Possession of drug paraphernalia (Title 35, section 780-113(a)(32) Misdemeanor).
On May 7, 2022 Mary Yost was arraigned on the above charges by Magisterial District Judge John Maggs and bail was set at $65,000 monetary. Mary Yost was also arraigned on a charge of Delivery of a controlled substance (F), Possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance (F), Criminal use of a communication facility (F) and possession of a controlled substance (M) from an incident on New Years Eve where Mary Yost sold 1 gram of cocaine to a confidential informant for $100 at her residence, 820 East Central Avenue, Pine Creek Twp. Judge Maggs set bail at $65,000 monetary for this incident.
