Yee Haw, Hee Haw – Kick up your boots for a musical comedy show & dinner theatre May 21

By Christopher Miller

NORTH BEND, PA – The Greater Renovo Area Heritage Park is proud to present their first-ever combination Hoedown & Beauty Pageant Musical Comedy Dinner theatre on Saturday, May 21 at the Chapman Township Fire Company in North Bend.

“The dinner theatre will be similar to Hee Haw,” event organizers Mary George Rhone and Tracy Shady told The Record. For those not in the know, Hee Haw was a country-themed variety and comedy show that aired on television for 26 seasons and filmed over 650 episodes from 1969 to 1993.

This year’s dinner theatre is being directed by Grace Perry O’Brien and will involve some audience participation.

“We have lots planned for the event this year,” Mary George said. “The audience will be voting on the beauty pageant which consists of a dress and bathing suit competition, along with our contestants displaying their hidden talents.” Beauty pageant participants are Martha Sykes, Patti Lacy, Autumn Gavlock, and Beth Whitty.

The event will also showcase music performed by local singers Autumn Gavlock, Bob and Linda Kelley, Erica Dorman, Charly Kepler, and David Werts.

Persons in attendance will be feasting on chicken and biscuits, mashed potatoes green beans, coleslaw, dinner rolls, and dessert. The Greater Area Renovo Heritage Park “signature drinks” will be available for purchase. “Those who have come to our events in the past know about these drinks and crave them all year long,” said Mary George.

“Hurry – we are only selling 100 tickets for the event,” said Tracy.

Tickets are $25 per person and are available by messaging Mary George Rhone on Facebook, or by calling or texting her at 570-927-0117, or by contacting Trady Shady at 570-755-1324. Tickets may be paid for online by sending $25 per person by PayPal to Treasurer@RenovoHeritage.org and specifying “dinner theatre” in your purchase, and by selecting the “Friends & Family” option prior to sending payment.

All proceeds collected benefit The Greater Renovo Area Heritage Park.
