MACKEYVILLE, PA – The Clinton County Historical Society hit a home run Saturday as
upwards of 700 people – one of the largest crowds ever – turned out for the
Wine in the Wilds wine tasting festival. Held at the Clinton County
Fairgrounds in Mackeyville, the Historical Society fundraiser featured 14
wineries and distilleries from around the region.

“Everything was with us,” said CCHS president and event organizer
Bonnie Hannis. “The weather was good, and people were very patient to wait
in line for a taste of wine. It was really just a lovely event and very good
for the Historical Society.”

The festival is always popular with groups of friends and family, who
gather and move from booth to booth to taste test wine from each winery and
then make purchases of their favorites. In addition to the wineries, there
were plenty of other vendors, offering everything from foods and dressings
that pair well with wine, to wine glasses, crafts and other items. The
Clinton County Fair and several food trucks offered food for sale, and the
event also included live music and even a street magician that moved around
the venue delighting wine tasters with his tricks.

Clinton County Historical Society volunteers staffed the event, with
some great support from several other community groups, including the Lock
Haven University Women’s Field Hockey team, who provided set-up and
tear-down assistance. A group from the Leadership Clinton County program
coordinated a concierge area, which involved working with each winery to
pick up purchased items and stage them for people to retrieve at the end of
the festival. Volunteers from Davis Real Estate coordinated door prize
drawings, while representatives from SWC Realty staffed a photo area.

“It takes more than board members and volunteers from the Historical
Society to make this happen,” says Hannis, who expressed thanks to all of
the Wine in the Wilds sponsors, supporters and volunteers.
