Wildcat softball falls to ‘Shore, 4-3
JERSEY SHORE, PA – For the second time this season the Central Mountain Lady Wildcats saw a six-game winning streak end in a close loss. Friday saw Jersey Shore came from behind with three seventh inning runs to pull out a 4-3 victory and avenge an earlier April loss to CM.
Jersey Shore got on the board first with one run in the bottom of the 1st inning aided by an error and a passed ball. Central Mountain answered in the top of the 3rd when Caitlyn Watson led off with a triple and scored when Allison Lininger ‘s ground ball was misplayed by the shortstop.
The score remained tied 1-1 until the top of the 5th when Haleigh Peters led off with a single off the third baseman’s glove. Watson followed up with a single, moving Peters to second base. Lininger drove the ball to the right-side scoring both Peters and Watson.
The score remained 3-1 until the bottom of the 7th;.a walk, two errors and a double to right field set the final score at 4-3 for a ‘Shore walk-off win.
Adalyn McKeague pitched the complete game facing 28 batters, while giving up 8 hits, striking out 6 and walking 1.
It was the fourth game in five days for the Lady ‘Cats (12-2) who will return to action next Tuesday at home against Danville (5-4). Jersey Shore had lost to Central Mountain 12-0 on April 22. Jersey Shore is now 6-2 in conference play, 7-3 overall. CM is 11-1 in Heartland Conference play.
