Wildcat tracksters downed by ‘toona

ALTOONA, PA – The Central Mountain track and field team got a pre-District 6 tourney look at Altoona’s Mansion Park in a meet on Thursday and multiple team members had solid days but the home-standing Mountain Lions had too much depth for the visitors.

Altoona took the girls’ side, 86.5 to 63.5, while the Mountain Lion boys won, 113-37. Head coach Ellie Sikorskas said a number of personal bests were recorded by team members.

The boys were led by Brett Gerlach who took both the high jump and triple jump, plus a second in the long jump. G. Lucas won the 200 meters and M. Cashwell the 800.

L. Hendricks led the girls’ effort with firsts in the long jump and triple jump. G. Rizzo took the discus, Mia Kopyscianski the javelin and J. Schubach the 400 meters. A. VanGorder earned first in the shot put and second in the discus. The Lady Wildcat team also took the 4×400 relay.
