Thursday fire guts Mill Hall garage; heavy loss
MILL HALL, PA – A state police fire marshal will be called in to determine the cause of a Thursday evening fire which gutted a one-story concrete block garage at the rear of 20 Danis Street, just off Fishing Creek in Mill Hall.
Owner Tim Yost told therecord-online the three-bay garage contained two Ford Mustangs in storage and multiple lawn mowers and six motorcycles; all appeared destroyed in the blaze. Yost said he was inside his home when his grandson came running in to tell him the garage was on fire. Yost said he did not know what could have caused the blaze, that only an electrical cord into a light in the garage was in use.
Mill Hall Fire Chief Tony Walker said Mill Hall and area companies put a quick hit on the flames and had it “knocked down” in about 20 minutes, using water from a hydrant from nearby Main Street.
The fire sent flames billowing into the air; they could be seen from as far away as Lock Haven. Walker said there was a “pretty heavy fire load” inside the structure.
Walker said no one was injured in battling the fire. Some 30 fire-fighters from Mill Hall, Lock Haven, Flemington and Lamar Township responded.
