Renovo Community Choir Presents “A Better World”

RENOVO, PA – The Renovo Area Community Choir will present their Spring Concert “A Better World”at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 1, 2022, at the Seventh Street United Methodist Church in Renovo, Under the direction of Patricia Lacy and accompanied by Diana Welshans, the choir has prepared an uplifting program for the afternoon full of the promise of a better world for all.

Selections include “Top of the World”, a familiar song made famous by the Carpenters, “What a Wonderful World” from the movie, Good Morning Vietnam, and “Imagine” as recorded by John Lennon. Everyone should recognize the popular tune “I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing” from a Coca Cola commercial, and “A Whole New World” from Walt Disney’s Aladdin. Filling us with hope and good will and completing the first half of the concert is a choir favorite “River in Judea”.

In 1969 “Put a Little Love in Your Heart” made its debut. 53 years later Charly Kepler will add her own interpretation to this TOP TEN hit and will have backup from the altos, tenors and basses.

Kedda Bissman is back to play a piano solo “Under the Sea” from Walt Disney’s Little Mermaid. Two more 60s hits, “What the World Needs Now” and “Stand By Me”, open the second half of the concert. A fun look at the world, “The Picnic of the World” imagines all the nations coming together followed by “Let There Be Peace on Earth”, a true song of world peace and understanding. From Disneyland California and the Magic Kingdom Park in Florida comes the Sherman brothers’ song, “It’s a Small World”. And the concert closes with “We Must Believe”, a message of brotherhood and hope.
