Central Mountain track splits with Bulldogs
MILL HALL, PA – The Central Mountain track and field team started its 2022 season with a Monday home meet with downriver rival Jersey Shore and the two schools split, Central Mountain’s girls team winning a 77-73 thriller while the Bulldog boys prevailed by a 106-44 score.
Central Mountain was led on the girls’ side by Lily Hendricks who took firsts in the long jump and triple jump, also adding a third in the high jump. Teammates Alyssa VanGorder and Abbey Wolfe also had two firsts: VanGorder in the discus and shot put, Wolfe in the 1600 and 3200 meters. Other first place finishes on the girls’ side came from Ashley Rich in the 100 meter hurdles, Rachel Hill in the pole vault, Sofia Dressler in the 800 meters and Mia Kopsciansky in the javelin.
Brett Gerlach paced the boys with firsts in the high jump and triple jump. Michael Cashwell took the 800 meters, Kobe Mills the long jump, Logan Dawes the shot put and Anton Stratts the discus.
Coach Ellie Sikorskas’s team is to visit Selinsgrove on Wednesday.
