Second Island Bridge closed to traffic
LOCK HAVEN, PA – The Second Island Bridge east of Lock Haven is closed to through traffic as of Friday of this week.
While PennDOT has made no official announcement to this point, work on replacing the bridge deck began earlier this month and an employee for the contractor told therecord-online on Friday the project is to continue into July.
The bridge is along the River Road, at its intersection with Fargus Island Road several miles east of Lock Haven. Swank Construction Company of New Kensington, PA is the contractor. A PennDOT spokesperson told therecord-online there would be an announcement on Monday; it had been the agency’s understanding the closure would not begin until early April.
