LOCK HAVEN, PA – As planning continues for Veterans Park across from the Clinton County Court House, the project got another boost on Tuesday, this time from Northwest Bank in the form of a $5,000 donation.

Dave Harger from project developer Harger Utility Charities said “Northwest has been a great partner in all things Veteran, They have always donated to our causes for local veterans over the last ten years. I can’t thank them enough for their continued support locally.”

With the bank donation, Harger said, the project has commitments of $216,167 to this point. He said the goal is $500,000, which will include some level of in-kind services as well as cash. He said the project committee will meet Tuesday night to start the selection process for artwork in the park.

Anticipated start date for the park renovations is this spring, with a dedication date of Nov. 11, Veterans Day, this year.

The public got its first view of artist renderings following the Hometown Heroes celebration at the nearby Corman Amphitheater prior to Labor Day last summer. At the time Harger had reported that $70,000 had been raised to that point.

Project committee members, in addition to Harger, are Steve Getz (artist and concept designer); Jim Russo (construction/donor); Jim Hanna (electrical/donor); Jim Lovette (donor rep); Jen Hagaman (VA rep county); Joby Topper (historian); Troy Conzelman (donor rep).

Plans are for most of the existing monuments at the park to be relocated, including some to Clinton County’s Piper Building, to be rededicated there. It was announced earlier that the World War II pavilion is beyond repair.
