Penn State men’s basketball game at VCU cancelled

UNIVERSITY, PARK, PA – The Penn State athletic department announced on Thursday that the Nittany Lions’ basketball game scheduled for Saturday in Richmond against Virginia Commonwealth University has been called off and will not be made up.
The school posted the word on its athletic website:
Penn State men’s basketball’s road game at VCU scheduled for Saturday has been cancelled due to positive COVID-19 results within the Nittany Lion basketball program. The game will not be rescheduled.
The health and safety of our student-athletes, coaches, staff and the broader community are of the utmost importance. Therefore, as part of the protocols established by the Big Ten Conference and Penn State Athletics medical staff, and in consultation with University, local and national officials and guidelines, individuals with a positive test have been put into isolation. In addition to isolation, contact tracing procedures have been implemented, which includes testing for those individuals who might have been exposed.
The status of future games will be determined at a later date.
Penn State presently is 5-5 on the season, VCU 7-4. The Nittany Lions next scheduled game is Wednesday, Dec. 22 at home with Quinnipac (6-4).
