LHU men’s soccer secures NCAA Tournament bid, will face Post University
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Lock Haven University men’s soccer team secured a spot in the NCAA Division II Men’s Soccer National Tournament announced on Monday. LHU will travel to Rindge, New Hampshire where the Bald Eagles will face the Eagles of Post University on Thursday at 3 p.m.
The Bald Eagles earned the number eight seed out of the Super Region 1 and matchup with Post, the number nine seed in the region. A total of 40 teams from across the country earned their bid to the tournament, ten from each of the four super regions.
For LHU, it marks the first time since the 2006 season that the Bald Eagles earned a bid to the NCAA Tournament. Current head coach Patrick Long (’08) started and played for the 2006 Bald Eagle team that finished the season 17-6-1.
The Bald Eagles capped the 2021 regular season in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) semifinals, a 1-0 loss, over the weekend and finished the regular season with a 13-3-2 overall record. The season was marked by a seven-game winning streak, which was the Bald Eagles longest since 2001.
Last week, the Bald Eagles claimed seven total all-conference players from the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) office, and also brought home three major individual awards in the player, rookie and coach of the year honors.
