Local Hunter Harvests PA Elk
On August 21, 2021 Frankie Mills (15 years old) of Lock Haven, PA , after just 3 years of applying for an elk tag received the phone call and text messages that most men wait a lifetime for.
He has been hunting for years with his pap, Troy Hanley. Frankie has not always been the luckiest hunter, but being in the woods is where he wanted to be. This year it all changed!
His elk hunt started on November 1, 2021 in zone 13. He was out that morning and passed on a smaller bull & seen two larger bulls just at dark on his way out of the woods. At 6:15 pm on November 2, Frankie had the opportunity to shoot a 6×7 bull elk at 180 yards with a 30-06. His bull weighed 552 pounds dressed and live weight was estimated to be 717 pounds.
The memories that Frankie and his pap have will last a lifetime. He was blessed with such an amazing opportunity that he will cherish forever.
Proud parents of this young hunter are Frank Mills Jr. of Lock Haven and Emily & Colton Kinney of Tamarack.
The guide for the hunt was Matt Spicer from Trophy Rack Lodge.
