Central Mountain seeks new girls’ hoop coach; Kessinger interim coach

BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP, PA – Just weeks before the start of preseason practice, the Central Mountain girls’ basketball program is in the market for a new coach.

Keystone Central School District Superintendent Jacquelyn Martin confirmed to therecord-online on Friday that Jeffrey Bowdell,  the Ohio man hired in May of this year, is no longer the head coach. Her statement came as the school district posted online word that a new Lady Wildcat head coach is being sought.

The superintendent’s statement:

Earlier this week Mr. Jeffrey Bowdell tendered his resignation as the girls’ basketball coach at Central Mountain High School. While he worked with the team in some preseason activities he was unable to continue in the role for the fast approaching winter season.

Obviously the timing of this transition creates some challenges for our team; however Jamie Kessinger, the varsity assistant coach has graciously agreed to step in as an interim head coach for a few weeks.  We have officially posted the position and plan to conduct interviews before the end of November…our goal is to find a highly qualified coach that will be committed to our program for many years.  We wish to move a name forward to the board for consideration on December 2, 2021.

The first Central Mountain girls’ game is the second weekend in December.

At the time of the hiring, the school district said Bowdell had an extensive background in coaching and teaching in Ohio. A school district released said he had coached football and basketball, and soccer throughout his interscholastic coaching career, most recently at Loveland High School in the Cincinnati area where he was an assistant varsity football coach and a middle school head basketball coach. The Record learned he earlier this year moved from Ohio to the Danville area.
