Clinton unemployment claims drop over course of past year

LOCK HAVEN, PA – Initial unemployment claims by Clinton County residents increased for the week ending October 30, 2021, but continued claims fell, according to information released by the state Department of Labor & Industry.

The initial claims for benefits were 34 for the week, as compared to 24 one week ago. The new figure included 21% who were in the manufacturing field, and 59% of them were males. The continued claims were down more than 50 to 284 last week. The new continued claim number was almost evenly split among males and females, and 18% were in manufacturing, slightly above the health care field number of 17%. Approximately one year ago, the continued claim benefits totaled 546 county residents.
