Rumor has it …
Rumor has it, not a clue if it’s true, but rumor has it that Renovo’s new police officer is doing what he’s been hired to do, curb crime and work to rid the town of drug problems. We’re hearing that his diligence in doing the required police paper work money from fines collected in 2013. We hear the amount of money from those fines is several thousand dollars.
Earlier this year it was reported at council meetings that because the police department was not in compliance with Uniformed Crimes Reporting requirements, Renovo would not get monies due from collected fines. Now we hear the required reports have been done, the police department is in compliance and the borough gets the money its due from those fines.
As I write, rumor has it, not a clue if it’s true and I haven’t been able to confirm it, but word is that while he was on duty recently somebody vandalized and damaged his personal car.
Table talk …
You just never know what the conversation topics will cover at the Renovo knights of the round table at the Sportsman’s. A recent discussion was a query about how George Lebant of Cross Fork chose his signature slogan “Let George do it.” The consensus at the round table was that it came from an old radio program called “Let George do it.” Since George wasn’t at the round table the consensus is just guess work.
Artisans, Come out of the woods …
Rumor has it that artisans in this area of the county can have a new venue for their creativity. A meeting will be held next week at Heritage Headquarters at 530 Erie Avenue, Renovo at 6:30 P.M. The meeting notice I saw notes that it is time for the talented people to come “out of the woods” to be recognized and share their passion. Area artisans have unique visions and creations that can help put Western Clinton County “On the Map.” Topics of the meeting will explore ideas for a temporary or permanent gallery site, work shops, after school programs, marketing, and the role PA Artisans Trail can play in this area’s economic development. FFF in Days gone by …
While we’re on the topic of artistic talent, I’ve always been impressed by how much musical talent came out of Renovo schools. Rumor has it, not a clue if it’s true, but I’ve heard that at St. Joseph’s school, every students had to learn to play a musical instrument. I’m not sure if the same was true for Renovo elementary and high schools. I was told recently that in years past much of that talent was displayed during Flaming Foliage week, both in the parade and during evening activities. From the sound of some of the information I heard, on Saturday evening after the parade there would be a band in every bar, and there was a bar on every corner. That might be an exaggeration, but that’s how rumor has it.
Man vs animal …
Rumor has it, not a clue if it’s true, but I’ve heard a tale recently about a Lock Haven resident with Renovo roots, who has, he thinks, won a battle he’s waged with a skunk. The story goes that a skunk took up residence under his porch. He tried numerous ways to entice the skunk away from the porch and then he would block the rodent’s path back to the porch. He used stones to block the path. The skunk moved them out of the way. He tried various obstacles to discourage the skunk. But no matter what he tried the skunk would find a way around or under the obstacle. He placed one of those animal cages that don’t harm the varmints and on a rainy, stormy night the skunk went inside it. He released the animal in a wooded area well away from his porch. The skunk must have been happy to be alive because the skunk did not spray his captor.
