LOCK HAVEN, PA · Sunday night was special as the Clinton County Historical Society celebrated its 100th anniversary. The occasion was an anniversary dinner at the Lock Haven Elks Lodge, during which president Bonnie Hannis thanked immediate past president Jo Ann Bowes for her 14 years as board president, Bowes was the longest-serving president in the Society’s history.

Congratulatory anniversary citations were presented by state Rep. Stephanie Borowicz, state Sen. Cris Dush (via CCHS member Pete Smeltz) and the Clinton County Commissioners via Commissioner Angela Harding.

The group also raised a toast to the next 100 years. Keynote speaker Thomas “Tank” Baird highlighted his and others’ research on Indian burial mounds and artifacts. Baird will be on hand November 14 at 2 p.m. at the Historical Society’s Poorman Gallery on E. Water Street with an Artifact ID program, described as a road-show for Native American artifacts. He encouraged people to bring artifacts they’ve found for possible verification and identification.
