Bucktail High School rededicated

FARWELL, PA – The Bucktail Middle/High School was formally rededicated Thursday evening and the ribbon cut, culminating a $7 million upgrade at the school.
Renovo area board representative Eric Probert talked of community pride he experienced as he grew up in Renovo and said it continues today, tying that pride with the school upgrade, “It is my hope that with these upgrades we can strengthen the Renovo community’s pride, the students’ pride, and our faculty’s pride in our local school.”
Probert called the Bucktail improvements “a welcome sight,” noting the recent focus on improved infrastructure in the northern tier of Clinton County. He lauded the project as part of long range planning used across the Keystone Central School District in recent years “involving all of the stakeholders…as it gives the community a vested interest in the project.”

School district superintendent Dr. Jacquelyn Martin called the dedication an important milestone and thanked the many parties in bringing the project to fruition. Among those she thanked was the district’s food services director Sharon Berger and her staff for working with the Bucktail students for the redesign of the school cafeteria.
Student speaker senior class member/Flaming Foliage representative Emma Poorman referenced the improved dining area in her comments; the dining area and the addition of air conditioning, she said, made Bucktail a more enjoyable place to be.
Bucktail Principal Mike Hall welcomed the attendees to the outdoor ribbon-cutting at the redesigned main entrance. Bucktail senior Charlize Kepler opened the program with the National Anthem and finished with the school alma mater. Principal Hall wielded the scissors for the ribbon-cutting, surrounded by a number of members of the Bucktail student body.
Tours through the renovated building preceded the ceremony and the monthly Keystone Central School Board meeting followed. That meeting was both a work session and voting session and was completed in short order.

In her meeting report, superintendent Martin said 151 students have signed up for the Keystone Academy, the district’s new after school program. She said the program is intended to focus on academic learning loss and to foster healthy social and emotional development.
The superintendent also put in a plug for the Thursday, Oct. 21 Lock Haven University/KCSD Homecoming Parade in Lock Haven. She said there are more than 30 entries and the floats will be judged in front of the Elks Lodge on E. Main Street. She said a joint pep rally for Bucktail and Central Mountain High Schools will take place at the LHU east campus gymnasium with Albert Jones from LHU at master of ceremonies. Anyone wishing to join the KCSD alumni entry should contact Jamie Kessinger, she said.
