Flemington woman charged with drug trafficking while on state parole
FLEMINGTON, PA – Agents from Pennsylvania State Parole conducted a Wednesday home visit on a parolee, Jennifer Nicole Smith, 34, at 205 Huston Street. According to a release from the office of Clinton County District Attorney Dave Strouse, during a search of Smith’s residence, State Parole Agents found suspected controlled substances, drug paraphernalia, and a bag containing assorted packaging material commonly used for packaging controlled substances. The agents then stopped their search of the residence and contacted Chief David Winkleman of the Pine Creek Township Police Department and the Clinton County Drug Task Force.
The DA’s office said Chief Winkleman responded to the scene and prepared a search warrant for the residence and contacted other Clinton County Drug Task Force Officers from Lock Haven City Police Department, the Pennsylvania State Police, Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General, and the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office to assist with the operation. The search warrant for the residence was issued by District Judge Keith Kibler and the search warrant was executed.
Clinton County Drug Task Force Officers, agents, and troopers then searched the residence at which time approximately one ounce of suspected synthetic cathinones, a significant sum of cash, a money counter, multiple digital scales, packaging material, and other drug paraphernalia were located during the search. Synthetic cathinones, or “bath salts”, as they are commonly referred to, carry a typical street value of approximately $3,000 per ounce when re-packaged and sold in smaller quantities.
Smith was then taken into custody on the State Parole detainer and transported to the Clinton County Correctional Facility. She was arraigned on charges of Felony Possession With Intent To Deliver Controlled Substances and other drug offenses by District Judge Kibler on Thursday morning and scheduled for a preliminary hearing on October 19. Smith is currently incarcerated at the Clinton County Correctional Facility.
Agencies participating in the search warrant were Pine Creek Township Police Department, Lock Haven City Police Department, Clinton County District Attorney’s Office, Clinton County Sheriff’s Office, Pennsylvania State Parole Office, Pennsylvania State Police, and the Pennsylvania Attorney General Office.
