Central Mountain Middle School closed due to death of support staff member at school

MILL HALL, PA – Therecord-online has learned that a support staff member at Central Mountain Middle School passed away inside the school, that person’s body found before the start of the school day on Monday. As a result of the incident, middle school students and their families were notified that school for Monday would be switched to remote status.

Meanwhile Keystone Central School District Superintendent Jacquelyn Martin provided this statement at mid-morning on Monday:

October 11, 2021

It is with a heavy heart that I inform you that there was an unexpected death of one of our support staff members early this morning.  The cause of death is currently under investigation by the PA State Police but it has been confirmed that there are no safety concerns for students, staff, or community members.  My deepest sympathy is extended to the family and our staff members. 

All students and staff from the Central Mountain Middle School are expected to utilize remote learning today on a two-hour delay schedule. Information for students can be located in Google Classroom. I will keep you posted on the status of learning for Tuesday, October 12, 2021.

Middle school staff members and students were directed away from the Mill Hall school on arrival for the school day Monday morning. Bus students were returned home and those brought by parents were taken to Central Mountain High School for later pickup.
