State COVID case update

HARRISBURG, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Health on Saturday reported 5,610 new COVID-19 cases statewide. The state is averaging more than 5,000 new cases per day so far this month, the highest since January’s 6,545 per day average.

The state said there are 2,929 hospitalized patients due to COVID-19, down one from Friday. Of those hospitalized 674 are in intensive care units, a drop of six from Friday.

In Clinton County 29 new cases were reported on Saturday, bringing the total to 4,547. The number of new daily cases in Clinton County this month has ranged from a low of 12 on Oct. 2 to a high of 33 on Oct. 3. Centre County saw an increase of 79 on Saturday to 19,848, while Lycoming County increased by 82 to 15,125.

No new deaths were reported by the state; the death count in Clinton County remained at 71.
