Commissioners okay pay incentive for prison lieutenants
LOCK HAVEN, PA â Clinton County has had trouble retaining correctional officers at the county correctional facility, so the county commissioners at their Thursday meeting approved a pay incentive for prison lieutenants.
With county treasurer Michelle Kunes, the commissioners as the county salary board approved a $1.50 increase in the hourly rate for all current lieutenants, effective Oct. 3.
The hike will run for six consecutive pay periods. Commissioner Angela Harding said the hike for the lieutenants follows a recently completed incentive program for correctional officers at the county lock-up.
The commissioners also okayed a three-year agreement with the U.S. Marshals Service to house up to 175 federal inmates per day at the correctional facility for $82 a day, a hike of $7 per day from the current rate of $75. Board chairman Miles Kessinger cautioned the action does not mean the county is taking in 175 federal inmates at this time, the figure the maximum allowable per the revised agreement.
The agreement also sets an hourly rate of $35 for guard/transportation services.
Commissioner Harding relayed word that Mill Hall Pharmacy in Mill Hall is offering free COVID saliva tests, either curbside or drive-through. She said more information can be obtained by calling the pharmacy at 570-726-3213.
Commissioner Jeff Snyder was not in attendance at the Thursday meeting.
