Flaming Foliage Festival: One week out and ready!
RENOVO, PA – It’s a longstanding Flaming Foliage Festival tradition, spectators for the annual parade set up their seats way ahead of time so as to not miss the annual pageantry through Renovo. A new record for preparedness may have been set this year when a lone chair, the first one, was placed Friday alongside St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, right across from where the judges’ stand will be on Huron Avenue.
After the 2020 festival was canceled due to COVID-19, the event returns next weekend to downtown Renovo.
COVID has forced one major change this year: festival queen-related events compressed to one day, Saturday, Oct. 9. The queen’s registration will take place at 8:30 a.m. next Saturday at the St. Joseph’s social hall on 9th Street. Following a 9 a.m. welcome, the queen contestants will be interviewed by the judges at 9:30 a.m., followed by the annual luncheon at 11:45 a.m. at the United Methodist Church social hall on 7th Street.
One tradition that won’t change will be the 2021 Parade of Queens, to begin at 1:45 p.m. at Third Street and Huron Avenue. The Queen’s Banquet is set for the St. Joseph’s Church social hall at 5:30 p.m., followed at 7 p.m. with the coronation event at Bucktail High School.
