LOCK HAVEN – Ya Gotta Regatta!
That phrase has been said and screamed with a smile on the faces of thousands – well, actually millions – of people throughout North America since 1971.

And that phrase focuses on a local nonprofit organization that was formed in early March of that year to serve Clinton County. Its first event was a radio auction later that month to raise money to serve the county. In June of that year, the Lock Haven Area Jaycees started its Labor Day Regatta.

Over the next 50 years, The Lock Haven Area Jaycees has continually organized the event attended by boat racers throughout North America and occasionally from Europe. Last year’s boat races were cancelled due to Covid-19.
This year, one of the nation’s largest boat races, midway, arts and crafts area, live musical entertainment and fireworks are ready. With this big milestone coming up this weekend from Friday, Sept. 3 through Monday, Sept. 6 there are many special activities planned along Water Street from Jay to Washington streets in Lock Haven.

According to a Jaycees release, the organization is looking forward to what promises to be the largest boater turnout ever with over 300 boats already registered to attend. The Lock Haven Area Jaycees has been named the nation’s best boat racing site by the American Power Boat Association for the year 2019.The Lock Haven Area Jaycees thank the entire region and nation for its support for the past 50 years.

Remember, Ya Gotta Regatta!
