MACKEYVILLE, PA – Master Gardeners are having a Fall Plant Sale and Garden Symposium on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at the Farm-City Festival at the Clinton County Fairgrounds.

Join the Penn State Master Gardeners of Clinton County for their very first Fall Plant Sale! Fall is a great time for planting. Cooler temperatures and more plentiful rainfall during the fall make it easier for plants to become established. With top growth dying back as winter approaches, plants are able to focus their energy on developing strong root systems. By spring, they are already established and ready to grow. Many trees, shrubs, and perennials planted in the fall often out-perform those planted in the spring.

The sale will feature a mixture of perennials, trees, and shrubs, including many natives and hard-to-find varieties.

Master Gardeners will also offer transplants from their own gardens. Please call 570-858-0189 with questions or to request a copy of the Fall 2021 Plant Sale Catalog. All sales will be on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.In addition to the plant sale, Master Gardeners have scheduled a day packed with great gardening workshops. Extension Horticulture Educator Tom Butzler will demonstrate the proper way to a plant tree. Ryan “The Bug Man” Bridge will provide an educational program for both children and adults featuring his extensive collection of live insects. Extension Forestry Educator Dave Jackson will talk about invasive plants and what can be done to remove them. Master Gardeners will offer mini-sessions on Building and Maintaining a Compost Pile, Hobby Bee Keeping, and more. They will also be on hand to answer your gardening questions.

The Plant Sale and workshops will be held at the Clinton County Fairgrounds in conjunction with the annual Farm City Festival. This is an event you won’t want to miss!
