Ross Library to Offer Fun Programs

As autumn begins, the Ross Library is bringing more fun and interesting programs for adults and seniors. Until further notice, all patrons must wear masks in the library, and program space is limited.
September is Library Card Sign-Up Month. September 15 to 18 is also the library’s annual book sale. New members are invited to the library for both. For the month of September, any new patron who signs up for a library card will receive a $5 off with any purchase coupon for the book sale. This offer applies to new patrons over the age of 18 who have not previously had a card. Offer applies until the end of the book sale.
It’s been twenty years since September 11, 2001. To commemorate the day, the Ross Library is holding an event. Tentatively on the third floor, beginning at one PM on Saturday, September 11, the public is invited to come and participate.
Guest speakers will include the mayor of Lock Haven and a representative from Veterans Affairs. An “open mike” time will be held to allow the public to step up and share their memories and thoughts about the fateful day. (Participants may sign up ahead of time, but are not required to. No hate speech will be permitted.)
Calling all local history fans! A new local history class is forming at the Ross Library. From September 2021 to May 2022, historian Lou Bernard will hold monthly talks about Clinton County’s history, covering a different area each month. The program begins on September 9 at 7 PM, with a lesson on the history and founding of Lock Haven, and will be held at 7 PM on the second Thursday of each month.
On Monday, September 27 at 7 PM, join Dr. Matthew McKeague at the Ross Library for some comedy writing! Dr. McKeague will present “Comedy Writing Crash Course: 10 Quick Tips For Funny Material” to teach how to write amusing stories and articles.
The library welcomes everyone into the monthly book club, the Book Brigade. On the last Saturday of each month unless otherwise announced, the club meets at ten AM to discuss a book and its related topics, drink coffee, and socialize. On September 25, the book will be Nelson DeMille’s “Night Fall,” and on October 30, it will be Ruth Ware’s “The Turn of The Key.”
