RENOVO, PA – According to Gary Eberhard, president of BUDSTOCK’s board of directors, “this is going to be a great year for our festival.” He told us that this year they have new bands, vendors and chances for gift baskets have been added.

A special limited edition t-shirt is being designed for the event, and for the first time, in honor of our 5th anniversary, they will be presenting a music award; and if that isn’t enough, they will still hold a raffle of great prizes.

The board of directors has changed the date of BUDSTOCK from the first weekend in August to Saturday, August 28, 2021 at the Flaming Foliage Lot in Renovo. They are hoping that the weather might be less humid for the attendees.

This year, will mark the first time, for a music award that will be presented to a deserving Bucktail High School student who has an interest in music and the board of directors is also in the process of choosing the next recipient of the ‘Community Spirit Award.’

BUDSTOCK was started as a Concept of Bud and the dynamics (Bud Hallberg, Paul Mills, Ron Jones, Wayne Stoltz and Gary Eberhard) who thought it would be a neat idea to put on a free live concert (aka Woodstock), to celebrate their 50 years of music. It’s a giving back to the community for their support over the years and to invite other musicians to take part in the celebration.

The infamous round table at the Sportsman’s Restaurant was “control central” the scene of many nights of planning. In 2015 when the invite went out to other musicians the response was overwhelming. BUDSTOCK was to be a one-time event.

The Greater Renovo Area Heritage Park was instrumental in providing the venue; Barb Mastriania had a booklet printed in honor of the occasion and handled publicity; Beth Whitty, Tim Horner and Alice Tarr helped with all aspects of BUDSTOCK. Nestlerode Construction Company of Lock Haven along with Smith Construction of Farwell supplied the flatbed trailers for the stage and Mike Smith lit up the area with their portable lighting.

That day began at 10:45 AM with Captain Kens Gospel band, followed by The Covenant Praise Band, Phase 2 (featuring Gordy Scrimshaw), the Revelation Praise Band, Drocton Hill, Mitch Gavlock, Back Porch String Band, Devon and Blake, Midnight Passage, Lockport Drifters, Bud & the Dynamics and Last Man Standing. With the chill in the air and the full moon over the Tipple the crowd was huge and enthusiastic until 2 AM.

With such success, the committee decided to make it a yearly event.

Gary continued by reminding us that all of this is being provided by a handful of people who only want to provide a venue for musicians and a receptive audience to enjoy it.

All of this entertainment is free to the public.
