WINGATE, PA – It wasn’t easy, but the Beech Creek Senior Legion Crickets baseball team has advanced to the PA Regional Tournament.

The Crickets finished their regular season with a record of 8-4. Playoffs began on Tuesday of last week, the tourney held at Doc Etters Field at Bald Eagle Area High School. The Crickets won their opener over Juniata Valley. Last Friday evening, Beech Creek fell into the loser’s bracket with a 4-3 loss in 8 innings. Saturday brought a double-header for the Crickets. The team beat Huntingdon and battled back to beat Clarence 8-2 forcing a championship game on Sunday. The title was earned with another win over Clarence by a 14-3 score.

The tourney was a grind as players had to come and go due to other commitments; they ended their championship run with nine players suited up.

The team will be headed to St. Michael, Cambria County, this weekend to begin Regional play.
