Miss Bucktail and Miss Central Mountain to Attend the 2021 Pennsylvania State Laurel Festival
WELLSBORO, PA–The 79th Annual Pennsylvania State Laurel Festival is well underway in Wellsboro with a concert a day leading into a weekend of events, including the coronation of the 2021 Pennsylvania State Laurel Queen.
Among the 26 Laurel Queen candidates are Miss Bucktail and Miss Central Mountain.
Miss Bucktail
Miss Angela Intallura is representing Bucktail Area High School and her community as a Pennsylvania State Laurel Queen candidate. She is the daughter of Jennifer and Mark Intallura of South Renovo.
All four years of high school, Miss Intallura was on high honor roll and a member of the girls’ tennis team; for three years played violin in the school band, was on prom committee and an Interact Club member; and as a junior and senior was a National Honor Society member and Class of 2021 secretary.
She enjoys kayaking, hiking, swimming, and reading and is employed as a waitress at the Sportsman’s Hotel and Restaurant in Renovo.
This fall, Miss Intallura will attend Lock Haven University and major in accounting. Her career goal is to become a certified public accountant and open an accounting firm.
Miss Central Mountain
Miss Jocelyn Renninger is representing Central Mountain High School and her community as a Pennsylvania State Laurel Queen candidate. She is the daughter of Diane and James Renninger of Dunnstable Township, near Lock Haven.
All four years of high school, Miss Renninger was on high honor roll, was a member of her school’s soccer team (captain, senior year) and track team, pole vaulting for three years, and was a section leader and sang soprano in the school chorus. For three years, she volunteered at the Special Olympics and Kent’s Fest.
She was a member of the National Honor Society as a junior and senior and on the homecoming court and a Black Lives Matter Club member as a senior.
This fall, Miss Renninger will attend Penn State University in State College and major in special education. Her career goal is to be a secondary special education teacher.
Queen Activities in Wellsboro
While in Wellsboro, the queen candidates will enjoy a full weekend of activities. At noon Friday, June 18, they will gather on the Tioga County Courthouse steps for the official welcome followed by a picnic lunch and a visit to the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon.
There will be an opportunity for them to spend time on The Green at the juried Arts and Crafts Fair and International Street of Foods, which will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. this Friday, June 18 and from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. this Saturday, June 19 with more than 100 vendors.
Friday at 4:30 p.m. 2019 Laurel Queen Allison Diehl and the queen candidates will be introduced to the public at the Queen’s Preview and Concert on the Deane Center’s outdoor stage. Featured will be the Boot Hill band. Bring lawn chairs. The rain location is the Arcadia Theater at 50 Main Street.
Saturday afternoon, June 19, the young ladies will ride on “Nessmuk” themed floats in the 2 p.m. Laurel Festival Parade. Featured will be the Pennsylvania Bucktails, drum and bugle corps, bagpipers, vintage cars, floats and more.
That evening at 6:30 p.m., the crowning of the 2021 Pennsylvania State Laurel Queen will take place on the stage in the Deane Center’s Coolidge Theatre. Houston Baker will perform. Tickets are available now at the Wellsboro Area Chamber of Commerce at 114 Main Street in Wellsboro and at the door Saturday night. Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for students and senior citizens and $5 for children 12 and under.
The festival concludes Sunday morning, June 20 with the 10:30 a.m. Union Church service on The Green.
