Mincer leaving Lock Haven City Council

LOCK HAVEN, PA – At the conclusion of a brief City Council meeting Monday night, council member Bill Mincer announced his resignation, effective on Tuesday of this week.

Mincer cited responsibilities with his job as a factor in his decision. He has been a Lock Haven resident since 1991 and was appointed to city council in 2018 and won a full term on council the following year. Fellow council members expressed disappointment with his decision to step down.

Mincer had notified city officials of his decision earlier on Monday by email:

City Manager/City Council/Mayor Long/Residents of Lock Haven;

It is with a heavy heart that I need to resign my City Council Position effective May 18, 2021. With my responsibilities with my job, I don’t believe that I can fully give the Council and the Residents of the city the representation that they deserve. Thank you for your confidence and your trust to hold this position. It has been a distinct pleasure to represent our city for the last 2 ½ years.

Mincer is the director of Sports Camps at Penn State University and was the former athletic director at Jersey Shore High School. He resides with his family in the city’s fourth ward.

City manager Greg Wilson said the city will start the process to find a replacement, a 30-day window. He said city council would be able to interview prospective replacements at its June 7 meeting.
