Lock Haven’s Tiger Den playground vandalized; reward offered

LOCK HAVEN, PA – Somebody vandalized Lock Haven’s Tiger Den playground in the overnight period Saturday and the City of Lock Haven is offering a $500 reward for information leading to the apprehension of those responsible. Multiple pieces of equipment were vandalized.

A nearby neighbor said at least some of the vandalism had been carried out earlier in the week. She said the gate to the playground had been unlocked for the season earlier this month.

The City of Lock Haven had resumed ownership of the park a year ago after the Keystone Central School District closed its nearby Dickey Elementary School. The upgraded Tiger Den had been constructed in 2006 for school playground use. It replaced older, more traditional playground equipment. The city had owned the park until 2000 when ownership was transferred to the school district. The school district last month auctioned off Dickey School to two local investors.

The city last year had solicited the public for suggestions for the park’s future use.
