CM’s Packer among women’s wrestling recruits announced at LHU
LOCK HAVEN, PA – The Lock Haven University women’s wrestling team is welcoming the 2021 recruiting class. The team will welcome five incoming freshmen, all of whom have either signed an NLI, or have been accepted and/or are enrolled at LHU. Among them is Central Mountain High School senior Madison Packer who was a starter on the Wildcat boys’ team this past season.
The 2019-2020 season was the first for head coach Ronnie Perry at the helm of the Bald Eagles women’s wrestling program. On December 19 of 2019, Perry and wrestler Dallis Dillon made history. The duo competed for the first time in LHU women’s wrestling history in an exhibition with Josselinne Campos of East Stroudsburg University.
The team has not competed since that match because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but expects to compete in a full schedule during the 2021-2022 season.
“I am thrilled to welcome this incoming class to Lock Haven” Perry said. “As we continue to build the program, this class will add depth and increase the competitive levels in the practice room. I look forward to introducing these women to the tradition that is Lock Haven University wrestling.”
Perry is welcoming a talented class in 2021, featuring six state championships, two Super-32 finalists and countless other accolades. The class features nationally-ranked No.4 Jessica Johnson, 2019 Northeast Region champion Mackenzie DelVecchio, third place Pennsylvania State finisher Madison Packer, three-time Pennsylvania girls high school state champion Lily Sherer and Northern region third place finisher Lacey Hums.
