Moving weekend for Geisinger in Lock Haven
LOCK HAVEN, PA – This is moving weekend for Geisinger health care facilities in Lock Haven and Flemington. Services at both of those sites, Bellefonte Avenue in Lock Haven and High Street in Flemington, will resume business on Monday, incorporated into Geisinger’s new 40,000 square foot, 2-story Geisinger Medical Clinic at 68 Spring Street in Lock Haven.
Geisinger representatives held a media tour earlier this week in anticipation of the Monday, March 22 opening. The facility will house primary and specialty care services, plus two new features at the new site. One of them is a “ConvenientCare” walk-in clinic. The clinic will be open seven days a week to provide for minor health conditions, from colds and flu to sprains and minor cuts. A similar walk-in clinic will remain open in McElhattan. The other addition is a Geisinger pharmacy set to open in April, the Danville-based health care provider’s first full retail pharmacy in Clinton County.
The new structure will house some 60 Geisinger employees. The site a century ago was Lock Haven High School’s Hanson football field and most recently was the location for a series of town houses.
The new facility will include adult and pediatric primary care offices, medication therapy management, and imaging and lab services. It will also house physical, occupational and speech therapy, orthopedics, podiatry and a specialty clinic with dermatology, cardiology, gastroenterology, nephrology, psychology, pediatric cardiology, pediatric psychology, surgery and women’s health services.
Additionally, the location is equipped with telemedicine technology to make it easier for patients to connect with other medical specialists without needing to travel to a larger medical facility.
The facility is part of a clinical joint venture between Geisinger and Highmark Health with both organizations making investment to improve existing clinical facilities, develop new ones, expand services and improve access to care across the region. The two health care entities are also partnering on a new Geisinger hospital under construction in Muncy.
