Lock Haven man sentenced for shooting at state police
CLEARFIELD, PA – A Lock Haven man has been sentenced to up to 20 years in state prison for shooting at state police during a chase in Clearfield County in June of last year. The sentence was imposed Monday on Quintin Titus, 26, 518 E. Main Street, Lock Haven.
Titus had been arrested last June and charged with multiple counts, including attempted homicide of a law enforcement officer. The police report at the time said the incident began on June 11, 2020 around 1 a.m. when Titus was pulled over during a traffic stop.
Police said Titus fled the scene in his vehicle, a chase ensued, and it ended when Titus wrecked his car and ran from the scene, later taken into custody in Osceola Mills.
Titus later pleaded guilty to two counts of criminal attempt/criminal homicide, one count each of firearms not to be carried without a license, fleeing or attempting to elude police, driving under the influence and traffic summaries.
Presiding Judge Paul E. Cherry told Titus he was fortunate it was not a homicide case. Prior to the sentencing, Titus apologized, saying he was not thinking as he was under the influence at the time.
Titus had been in trouble with the law before; he was arrested by Lamar state police in March of 2020 after a 1 a.m. traffic violation on Route 220 in Pine Creek Township. He had been placed in the Clinton County Correctional Facility at that time on charges of firearm violations, DUI, drug-related offenses and traffic violations.
Several years ago he had been arrested in Howard on a probation violation in a theft case.
