Woodward Township looks at restarting sewer authority

Woodward Township Sewer Authority building on Oriole Road

DUNNSTOWN – Woodward Township government is looking at re-establishing the Woodward Township Sewer Authority.

The matter was discussed at last week’s township supervisors meeting and the issue is scheduled for further discussion at the board’s next meeting, Tuesday, Feb. 16 at the township building.

As part of last week’s meeting, the supervisors agreed to set up a public hearing towards the authority’s re-creation for Wednesday, March 10. The vote was 2-1, with Wayne Love and John Barth voting in favor and Kyle Coleman voting no.

It is understood those in favor of re-establishing the authority believe it would increase the township’s ability to borrow money in the case of an emergency.

The sewer authority had been dissolved previously by the supervisors. More recently, at a supervisors meeting in January a year ago, there had been an informal agreement among the present supervisors to sell the authority office building located on Oriole Road in Dunnstown, but nothing has come of that agreement to this point.
