Phoenix downs Meadowbrook Christian

MILTON, PA – The Sugar Valley Rural Charter School evened its dual meet record at 1-1 Saturday with a 42-23 road win at Meadowbrook Christian.

It was a dual in which only two weights were decided on the mat, the rest either forfeits, nine in all, or no contest, two of those. Winning on the mat for the Phoenix was Gavin Hampton at 126 pounds; he recorded a 10-second fall. Garnering forfeit wins were Corey King, Cayden Weaver, Kyle Stahl, Trinity McKeague, Kadin Ortiz-Leigey and Dominic Kennedy.

The win evened the Phoenix record at 1-1, after a 40-30 loss to Loyalsock earlier in the week. Next match will be Thursday, Jan. 28 at Sullivan County, junior high at 4:30 p.m., varsity at 5:30 p.m. All Sugar Valley matches will be away this season as a new gymnasium is under construction at the Loganton school.
