COVID-19 Update: Clinton Up 42; Centre Up 81; Lyco Up 171
HARRISBURG, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Health Wednesday confirmed as of 12:00 a.m., December 23, that there were 9,605 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 581,156.
There are 6,151 individuals hospitalized with COVID-19, double the peak in the spring. Of that number, 1,236 patients are in the intensive care unit with COVID-19. Most of the patients hospitalized are ages 65 or older, and most of the deaths have occurred in patients 65 or older. The state reports the trend in the 14-day moving average of number of hospitalized patients per day has increased by nearly 5,600 since the end of September.
Statewide percent positivity for the week of December 11 – December 17 stood at 15.8%.
As of 11:59 p.m. Tuesday, December 22, there were 230 new deaths reported for a total of 14,442 deaths attributed to COVID-19. Clinton County reported one more death due to COVID-19, running the county total to 21
Local counties’ numbers: Clinton County, up 42 to 1,716; Centre County, up 81 to 8,450; Lycoming up 171 to 5,230. Other area counties include Cameron, 12559Clearfield, 3,401; Potter, 505; and Union, 2,622.
Thus far 7.187 Clinton County residents have tested negative for COVID-19, up 34 from Tuesday.
