Community Turns Out to Say Goodbye to Anson Stover

WOODWARD TOWNSHIP, PA – It was an evening of song, scripture and prayer as some 150 community members turned out Friday to say goodbye to Anson Stover, the nine-year-old Lock Haven boy who tragically lost his life on Nov. 30.

Organizers said the candlelight vigil was an opportunity for the community to remember the boy they lost. Those in attendance included Robb Elementary School teacher MacKenzie McCain. She termed Anson “the best little boy you will ever meet.”

Community members were able to leave gifts for the young boy’s five female siblings, ages 5, 6, 10, 11 and 12. Gifts may also be left at Momoyo Otsu boutique at 147 E. Main Street in Lock Haven. All donations will be presented to the family on Dec. 21.

The Friday event was the second in recent days in memory of Anson. On Tuesday a “one last walk with Anson” was held, community members tracing the path he had taken many times from his home on E. Bald Eagle Street to the Robb School.

The Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home of Jersey Shore has announced that a public celebration of Anson’s life will be held in the spring; funeral services were to be private.
