What’s Brewin’ in 2022, Mill Hall Wonders…

By Christopher Miller

Recent activity along Main Street in Mill Hall has had quite a few residents and passersby interested in the demolition and construction taking place.

The “stay at home orders” of early 2020 has led to great creativity that has been brewing in Dr. Lee Powers’ home. Opening some time in mid-late Spring of 2022, a brewery is beginning to take place along the creek.

Located at 380 Main Street in Mill Hall, and what was formerly a laundromat, arcade, restaurant, and a hardware store will find new life as a waterfront beer and food establishment.

“I am gutting it completely,” Lee explained to The Record. “There have been a few other condemned buildings being demolished in Mill Hall, but we are building and renovating what I think will make a substantial impact on the borough.”
Lee, who can be described as a pioneer of the Main Street area, is taking an old building that was built some time around the early 1920’s and refurbishing it to modern standards.

“The downstairs will be a tasting room, and beer-to-go, while the upstairs will be a full banquet hall with room for 150 – 200 people,” Lee explained. “As well, there will be an abundance of outdoor seating along the waterfront.”

There has been so much interest in recent weeks that it has caused many people to stop and walk in out of curiosity. “People are welcome to come by and see what is going on in there, I am just happy that this building is not going to be falling down and torn apart any time soon,” Lee exclaimed.

He will be serving and distributing the locally made beer, crafted from scratch, in varieties such as everything from Nitro beers, to IPAs, “every day drinking beers,” porters, and stouts. “I am 100% self-taught, so I am always learning,” Lee explained.

As a name for the establishment has been chosen, and is working its way through trademark offices, that information unfortunately cannot be disclosed at the present time. What can be known for sure is that something is certainly brewing at 380 Main Street in Mill Hall.
